Mark Cuban Hates The Mavericks

Fewer players = less salary and more leg room

Dallas Mavericks owner and superfan Mark Cuban may have finally had enough with his team.  Although the team has made the playoffs consistently over the past decade, they’ve made a trip to the NBA finals only once and never taken home a title.  Monday night, they hit rock bottom by losing to the Oklahoma City Thunder, who were playing without their two top scorers, Kevin Durant and Jeff Green.

Cuban responded by publicly announcing that no player’s roster spot is safe.  He can’t possibly mean that, however.  No owner would willingly part with the likes of Matt Carroll, Shawne Williams, Ryan Hollins or the corpse of Devean George.  There’s far too much value there, and Cuban himself admits “this team has the talent to win in the playoffs.”  That’s assuming, of course, he’s referring to the Dallas Area Boys and Girls Club Intramural Playoffs.

Considering the financial hardships NBA teams have been experiencing, Cuban may be cleverly positioning himself for a huge salary dump in the off-season.  It’s OK to laugh… huge dump… yeah.

“Damn it, my highest paid players aren’t trying hard enough, call Orlando and tell them I’ll trade them Dirk and Kidd for JJ Reddick, cash and a pair of cheerleaders.”
