Jonathan Papelbon is Dramatic

Paps celebrates after another successful self-exam
Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon gave the people what they weren’t waiting for, his thoughts on the Manny Ramirez situation. It’s only been 7 months since Manny was traded from Boston to LA, so Papelbon decided he’d better comment on the situation while it’s still fresh and timely.
In an article that sets the AP record for number of superfluous exclamation points, Papelbon compares Manny to cancer. In a statement that I’m sure all cancer survivors can relate to, Paps says “He had to go. It sucked, but that was the only scenario that was going to work.”
I can’t tell you how many people I’ve talked to who have had to battle cancer, and they all say the same thing. ‘Yeah, it sucked, but I knew that was the only scenario that was going to work.’ So those brave survivors did the same thing Papelbon did, go about their everyday lives until someone else trades the cancer to LA and gets Jason Bay instead. That story is a dime-a-dozen at the Race for the Cure.
Papelbon says he thinks the Sox have solved their cancer problem after getting rid of Manny, but he may be singing a different tune soon. After all, he has to share a bullpen with Jon Lester.
Editor’s Note: How is Jason Bay playing through “broken knees” not a bigger story. That guy should win an ESPY.
