The BCS is Antagonizing Me

I don't get it

You know the BCS system that controversially decides the participants in the D-1 (screw that FBS crap) football national championship every year?  You know how much you hate that and how you dream of a playoff?  If you said no to either question, stop reading because I hate you.  To anyone still around, get ready for five more years of the sucks. 

The BCS extended their agreement with the major bowls so we can suffer through the year 2014.  I imagine I’ll either be dead or on Mars by then, so this effectively ends any chance I’ll see a college football playoff. 

Pretty clever announcing it just as everyone is getting wrapped up in March Madness.  ‘There’s interesting basketball happening, we can slip in this announcement and no one will even notice.’  That really is a good plan.

But that’s why sports blogs exist, to catch all the less publicized stories that no one saw or cared about, and make them into a big deal.  Was there a patriotic hymn and an American flag behind me when I said that?  No?  Damn. 

In reality, anyone who notices that the BCS will be ruining NCAA football for another 5 years should also notice the distinct contrast the timing of this announcement creates.  It’s like they drew an idiot-proof diagram to ensure everyone would understand how infuriating the BCS is.  

See the basketball tournament you’re watching?  See how it’s dramatic and exciting and decides a winner in a fair and balanced fashion?  See this article about the BCS going to 2014?  See how it’s none of those things?  Now what did you learn?
