Sorry Vince, this isn't the NHL

You may recall that recently the NHL had to rearrange some Stanley Cup Playoff games between the Penguins and the Capitols due to arena scheduling conflicts with Yanni, Dane Cook, and the WWE.

It appears that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon got used to the preferential treatment over professional sporting events, because he got pissed off today when made aware of another conflict, only this time with the NBA.  As the Washington Post explains:

World Wrestling Entertainment says it is booked at the arena for an episode of Monday Night Raw, the same night the Nuggets are slated to host the Lakers in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals.

Well it seems pretty obvious who’s going to take the shaft on this one, because the NBA throws a little more weight around in America than the NHL.  Knowing this, McMahon had this to [fake] say:

Even though the Denver Nuggets had a strong team this year and were projected to make the playoffs, obviously Nuggets and Pepsi Center owner Stan Kroenke did not have enough faith in his own team to hold the May 25th date for a potential playoff game.”

Yes.  Either that or he knew he’d have no problem telling all the cerebral heavy weights that buy WWE Raw tickets to go F themselves and sniff paint somewhere else if the conflict arose.  Because it makes much more sense to have nothing scheduled in a multi-million dollar arena for three weeks on the off chance that your team who hasn’t made it out of the first round in five years might have a home game.

Wrestling fans should just relish their victory over real sporting events with Yanni concert-goers and let this one go.  You knocked off hockey.  Congratulations.  Now run along back to the PPV channels and trailer parks where you belong.
