Hot Russian Woman On Woman Action

You might not believe me, but when I put the search terms “women” + “handball” + “catfight” into Google, it was perfectly innocent.  And that search turned up this think-piece about a Russian Team Handball match that devolved into a massive brawl.  Unfortunately, Russain women handballers don’t seem to have much in common with Russian women tennis players, but you do get a sweet clothesline and some hair pulling.  On the streets of Moscow, this kind of action would cost you a pocket full of rubles.  Or a wheelbarrel full, I’m no good at conversion rates. 

On a scale of 1-10, how likely would you be to watch more women’s sports if this was the probable outcome?  One being ‘pretty damn likely’ and 10 being ‘I bought a second DVR to make sure I don’t miss it’.  I’d say I’m a solid 7.

The WNBA’s marketing department should be drooling over this video.  That’s not a lesbian joke, I’m serious.  Maybe if the players were open to some on-court beatings, they wouldn’t need to sell advertising space on the front of their jerseys.  It’s like they’re turning into NASCAR drivers. 

Ironically, watching a sport just for the fights is kind of like watching NASCAR just for the crashes but I’ve come to terms with that reality.  The WNBA can always go the NHL’s route and pretend like the fighting is ruining their sport.
