Josh Womack is Flashy
Minor League baseball player Josh Womack became an Internet sensation a couple weeks ago when video of his amazing, but fake looking, bat tricks hit the web. Now he’s at it again with a whole new line of incredible tricks. I apologize for thinking the original video was a fake, but you can’t tell me it looks legit while you’re watching it. It’s like any movie Eddie Murphy has made in the past 10 years.
For me, the best part is how nonchalant Womack is the whole time. It’s like he’d really rather keep these tricks to himself, but his teammates have forced him to put them on display for the whole world. His teammates probably also forced him to reap the benefits of the waves of groupie ass that are washing up on his shores now too. If I could do even one of those tricks, I’d be in Los Angeles right now throwing my bat around non-stop… I’d probably showcase my baseball tricks too, ZING!
Because I was curious and felt like looking it up, here’s some background on Womack. He was drafted in 2002 by the Mariners after graduating high school in San Diego. He spent the next 5 years being kicked around in A-ball and independent leagues before climbing up to the M’s triple-A affiliate in Tacoma to end last season. Now he’s back in independent ball, playing for the Long Beach Armada of the Golden Baseball League. Sadly, Womack will likely be selling used cars by 2014 unless an MLB scout sees the potential of adding a guy with these skills to a big-league roster. Frankly, I’m surprised Hank Steinbrenner hasn’t already jumped at the opportunity.
Ed. Note: If Josh is reading this, you should know that Bootlegger Sports cares about you, the human being. You know, the human being that can do the crazy stuff with a baseball bat. Drop us a line and we can do an interview about all kinds of stuff and I promise we’ll limit the questions about bat tricks to ‘What’s the deal with all the bat tricks?’
