Smiling and wearing a KU hoodie, that's a good sign right...RIGHT?

The state of Kansas was on the verge of implosion yesterday after Carl Henry, the father of prized basketball recruit Xavier Henry and prized coat-tail rider C.J. Henry, stated that his sons may reconsider their commitment to Kansas and opt instead for Kentucky.  I even heard a citizens militia was being put together that planned on invading the bluegrass state.  I haven’t seen Kansans this riled up since John Brown came through.  I’m sorry, was that reference to historical for you?  How about, I haven’t seen Kansans this riled up since Roy Williams bolted for Carolina.  No?  How about, I haven’t seen a Kansan this upset since Krispy Kreme told Mark Mangino they were out of donuts.  Ah yes, that’s a nice fit.

The nightmate for Jayhawk fans appears to be over, however, after Xavier texted a radio station last night and said “I’m goin to Kansas and thats final”.  The extra effort to capitalize Kansas shows that he’s serious.  Still, why is it so universally acceptable to text big news like this.  Texting should be used when using your phone in a loud place, (’at the bar, spr drunk, b naked when i get home’) to talk about someone who is sitting next to you, (remnd me agin wich 1 has herpes) or to pass along information that could get you screamed at (i shit n ur bed njoy).  But texting should never be used to vote for American Idol, have a long conversation or break important news.  Do you think Obama would send this text: ‘Im vetoing the bill l8 btchs’?

Kansas seems to have been placated by Xavier Henry’s text because it’s what they want to hear right now.  If they really thought about it, I think they’d get nervous that their star recruit who might be wavering in his commitment won’t even go through the effort of speaking to tell fans that he’s still in love with the Jayhawks.  But, I suppose every story has at least 2-sides.  Maybe Xavier couldn’t call because of the background noise where he was.  If he had called, people might have heard the Kentucky fight song and John Calipari counting out one-hundred dollar bills.
