Anti-Feminism is Always To Blame

I’ve often used this space to poke fun at athletes who have lost control and done something stupid.  But, in all fairness, we’ve all made mistakes and no one should be ostracized for something that happens in the heat of a competition.  With that said, did you all see that player for the New Mexico women’s soccer team taking down bitches?  How hot was that…uhh…in a completely inappropriate kind of way.

Her name is Elizabeth Lambert and she was suspended indefinitely from the team after her actions made national headlines.  She’d like to let you all know that she made a mistake and she’s working very hard to ensure that it never happens again.  Also, it totally wasn’t her fault.  I mean, I know you watched her on video yanking a girl down by the pony tail and throwing a punch and making a very malicious looking slide tackle, but seriously, you don’t understand.  That totally wasn’t her fault.  There are plenty of factors that prove her point…if you’ll just wait patiently while she thinks of some of them.

I think the way the video came out, it did make me look like a monster. That’s not the type of player I am. I’m not just out there trying to hurt players. That’s taking away from the beauty of the game. And I would never want to do that.

Well, except that one time where she very famously did do exactly that.  But then, everything looks worse if you remember it and have proof on film.  Destroy that video and what do you have?  Nothing but hearsay and that won’t hold up in any court.

You know, I do have to applaud Lambert for not trying to play up some ridiculous, tired feminist angle to this whole ordeal.

I definitely feel because I am a female it did bring about a lot more attention than if a male were to do it.  It’s more expected for men to go out there and be rough. The female, we’re still looked at as, Oh, we kick the ball around and score a goal. But it’s not. We train very hard to reach the highest level we can get to. The physical aspect has maybe increased over the years. I’m not saying it’s for the bad or it’s been too overly aggressive. It’s a game. Sports are physical.

Wow, she’s kind of all over the place there.  But it’s OK honey, everyone knows women’s soccer isn’t about scoring goals.  It’s about who looks best in shorts, right?  Did I get it?

She has a point though.  If her situation were to have played out in a men’s soccer game, I’d be calling the man in her position a hero.  But that’s mostly because dude’s with pony tails deserve to be yanked down by them…and raped by a bear…with a pony tail.

Some people are taking Lambert’s actions a little too seriously, however.  One person reportedly emailed her and wrote “[Lambert] should be taken to a state prison, raped and left for dead in a ditch.”  I don’t really know why she has to go all the way to a state prison.  I mean, if you’re leaving her for dead, do you really have to make her go out of her way like that and waste gas to get to a state prison.  That’s a bit over the top.  Maybe they thought the only way to find a rapist was in a prison.  Ah, idealism.

Lambert was predictably shocked by those sentiments, but at the same time, seems equally shocked by the opposite.  Some guys, you know who you are, sent her notes saying they should hook-up sometime.

That appalled me.  A lot of people think I have a lot of sexual aggression. I was like, ‘Whoa, no, I don’t feel that way at all.’ That’s bizarre and shocking to me.

This girl needs to make up her mind.  She doesn’t like rape, but also doesn’t want dudes to hit on her.  Wait, ohhhh, I just got it.  Hey, she should try-out for the softball team.

Elizabeth Lambert is a junior at the University of New Mexico, and plays for their soccer team the Lobos originally from California (too bad for California). So, this loser knows they are going in to a game that they will most likely lose and since they do not have the talent to score they resort to this kind of play, it has very minor thought to it than let’s say passisng the ball through your opponents defense and scoring a goal.

The other issue is the where were the referees, were they all older white men with their tongues out, enamored and unable to call the game objectively (this game had so many penalties that did not get called), I mean what are they getting paid to do. Who has paid these guys off? Do we have to change the game where only women referees can call women games. After watching the video someone was paid off, that is my conclusion.

And Lizzy, watch you back and please stay out of soccer (you real should be banned, the game does not need people like you in it), so many will be gunning for you now. Who knows maybe you were just drumming up business for your “Occupational Therapy practice”, yah good luck with that, I doubt your bed side manner is any different from your sportsmanship.
