Cardinals’ Fans Are the Best in Baseball

Yep, best fans in baseball

Yup, best fans in baseball

It’s that time of year again, sports fans.  The time when baseball teams’ front office staff returns from their various vacations/hibernations and start making news again.  Last year, Tony LaRussa drew the short straw for the Cardinals and picked up a DUI to get the fans talking, but this year it seems 2nd year GM John Mozeliak was the odd man out.  He was forced to have a live chat with fans, courtesy of St. Louis Today.  A grim fate for any high ranking official, filled with grammatical and spelling errors and poorly thought out questions.  Much like an email from Lindsay Lohan or an article on Bootlegger Sports.

Deadspin has the best out-takes, like the one where a so called fan tells the GM he lives in a fantasy world and wonders why anyone would be excited about the team signing “three horrible new lefty relievers” and a shortstop who hit .213.

Apparently, missing the playoffs the last two years has the folks in St. Louis feeling all feisty.  Come on people, the Cards won the World Series three years ago, you can’t expect them to try hard all the time.  What?  You say you can and do expect that?  Well then, now who’s living in a fantasy world?

Kudos to John Mozeliak though.  His strategy for getting fans excited about the team and out to the park seems to be to insult them as much as possible.  Next thing you know he’ll be standing outside of Busch with a megaphone.

“Hey ugly, bring your fat wife and mongoloid children to the game today!  That goes for you too moron!”

If you want to read the entire chat transcript you can go here.  But if you’re not a Cardinals’ fan, the only reason to follow that link is to question the GM’s qualifications.  Apparently, being a competent English speaker isn’t a pre-requisite to run a baseball team.  I guess guys like Albert Pujols, Manny Ramirez and Carlos Beltran aren’t real sticklers for the Shirley Method.

Seriously some people need to take a joke. That’s the problem with being a fan of a team in the Midwest. There are going to be idiot rednecks. That’s obviously the joke here. If you can’t take the joke then that probably means it is about you.

Dude, this is ridiculous. Your ignorance on this topic amazes me. Hopefully you are not PAID to blog on the internet. It is very easy to make typing errors when you are trying to answer as many questions as fast as you possibly can. You can rip Mozeliak for his grammatical errors, but I think that is bogus. Trying to answer the questions as fast as he could will result in errors.

Next, Mo insulting the guy who was telling Mo he lived in a fantasy land was WELL within his boundaries. If I was Mozeliak, and that guy was talking to me like that in person, I’d assault him. These people think they can insult somebody when they’re hiding behind a keyboard. Much more difficult to do it to someones face. That being said, I think any DECENT Cardinal fan highly appreciated Mos comments towards that jerk. I don’t mind somebody asking a tough question, but this guy took unprofessional un-warranted shots at Mo.

In any event, your comments about this are highly ridiculous. Instead of writing about a guys spelling errors, why don’t you put something out about the moves he has actually made. All of those people unhappy with the way the roster looks right now simply aren’t educated enough on the manner to see that this team as assembled, is not only better than it was last year, but has a good chance at playing baseball well into October. Do your homework before you publish this diarrhea of the mouth.

Phil, just because you root for the Cards doesn’t mean you can’t have a sense of humor about them. Did you not notice that no part of this article is serious? Are you really that upset about a grammar joke?

im not a grammer stickler either when it come to words being misspelled. However he did (in the chat) type “are” when he meant to type “our”…

Cardinal fans are mostly jag offs. Some are ok, most are jag offs. The try to pick fights with fans from the opposing team. They should be happy the fans buy their tickets considering they canot sell out a game. Corn fed jag offs.
