Sammy the Owl Keeps It Real
Conference USA basketball news is usually restricted to the sleazy/thuggish happenings involving the Memphis Tigers, but today Rice is getting in on the action. The Rice mascot, not Uncle Ben, got run during the team’s game against Tulane.
As the above video shows, Sammy the Owl wasn’t vacating his prime spot on the baseline, and might have hooted at the ref a little too much, also he may have head-butted the ref, so he got tossed. Also, can we start testing that owl for stimulants? His biceps are bigger than his wings.
My favorite part is the announcers who devote so much time and energy to the incident. They probably have been dreading that game since the schedules came out. But Sammy the Owl gave them the diversion they needed to stay awake.
