Manny Ramirez Got an Offer

Manny's praying the Tornadoes find an extra $60-mil in the budget
Manny Ramirez started the off-season as arguably the biggest free agent available. But he’s generated more public announcements that teams aren’t interested than contract offers so far. He’s probably not worried because he can always just start selling his shit on Ebay again, but his agent, Scott Boras, probably would prefer he sign something that includes a 15-percent cut for representation.
Manny finally got that offer on Wednesday from the Worcester Tornadoes of the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball, via Lion in Oil. He’s got a multi-year offer and 24k coming to him if he decides to take it, so what’s not to like. He’ll get plenty of press, at least for a while, playing there and he most likely doesn’t need the money. Unless the price of dread wax and doo-rags skyrocketed.
The Worcester GM says Manny could be “amongst the leaders of the league” in most statistical categories, which I figure actually means Manny could put up video game type numbers against some pitchers who will never sniff the majors. Come on, Manny, you know you want to hit 100 home runs in 80 some games.
Manny will probably turn this down because professional athletes are no fun. You’d think someone with such an inflated ego would jump at the chance to be the unquestioned greatest player in the league, but maybe it means less when the competition is sub-par. Like when I won the MVP of my teeball league for the 15th year in a row. Let me tell you, those 5-year-olds don’t like to lose.
